History Page Generation Java-Bali (PJB) began when the Electricity and Gas Company was formed in 1945, after Indonesia's independence. In 1965, the State Electricity Company separated from the State Gas Company. In 1972, PLN is a state owned enterprise with the status of the Public Company. Ten years later, in 1982, the restructuring started in Java-Bali, with the separation unit according to its function, Unit PLN PLN Distribution and Power and Distribution Unit.

In 1994, the status changed to PLN Persero. A year later, was restructured in PT PLN (Persero) to establish two subsidiaries in the field of generation. This restructuring aims to separate the social missions and commercial missions to embrace. On October 3, 1995, PT Power generating Java-Bali II, or better known by the name of PLN PJB II standing. The main objective of the establishment of this subsidiary is to carry out the electricity business of high quality and reliable industrial and commercial based on the principles of a healthy and efficient.
